The image above of Maggie Hambling's Scallop (2003) stands on the north end of Aldeburgh beach, only a few minutes walk from The Brudenell. It is a tribute to Benjamin Britten and is pierced with the words "I hear those voices that will not be drowned" from his opera Peter Grimes.
